"

In 2001, she played as a dancer on American Chai . The film won the Audience Award at the 2001 Slamdance Film Festival, with the New York Post describing it as "light but sweet film." Sheth went on to perform in various roles in independent films and on network television, including a lead in the film Wings of Hope, for which she won Best Actress at the Cinevue Film Festival.

2005-2010

In 2005 Sheth starred as Maya opposite Albert Brooks in the Brooks movie Seeking Comedy in the Muslim World . Brooks did a broad international search for the ideal actor to portray Maya, and said of Sheth, "As soon as I met him, I watched everything I could, I did not care to see anyone else... I just knew I had to put him in the movie. "The film was taken at locations in India (Delhi and Agra). Sony Pictures Entertainment initially brought the movie, but Brooks parted ways with them when he refused Sony's request to remove the word "Muslim" from the title. The film was taken and finally released by Warner Independent Pictures.

Following his success in Seeking Comedy in the Muslim World , Sheth won the repetitive role of Martina in the NBC TV series The Singles Table, starring Alicia Silverstone and John Cho. Six episodes were shot, but the series never aired. She also appeared in the ensemble of The Trouble With Romance and starred in the First Fear thriller movie opposite Sean Patrick Flanery.

Both films have achieved cult status, and have resulted in Sheth a huge fan base and loyal to the depictions of Leyla (I Can not Think Straight) and Amina ( The World Unseen ).

2010-present

Sheth went on to appear in Why Am I Doing This , and starred in Stackate opposite Josh Randall and Burgess Jenkins, whom she was nominated for Best Actress at Staten Island 2011 Film Festival. Sheth began her career at a time when some South Asians and very few American Indian women were making a living as an actor. However, he was surprised to find himself a pioneer. Nothing in his experience, education, or personal views has prepared him for his ethnic role in decision-making. He is often expected to change his name to something "more American," and even denied a representation when he chooses to appear under his own name. In the end his body showed that his skills as an actor and his accent talents enabled him to portray the characters of different ethnicities, temperaments and circumstances. His successful career has opened the door for other South Asian actors to pursue careers in American movies and television. Sheth supports Asian-Americans and under-represented groups in pursuing their careers in the entertainment industry, not only through their own pioneering work as an actor, but also by appearing in festivals, workshops and panels and talking directly to the troubled issues, problems faced by these communities.
