Kennedy Assassination
Starting October 14, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald rented a small room at Johnson's home for $ 8 a week. He slept there on weeknights, and returned on weekends to the outskirts of Irving, Texas, to be with his wife. On the date of the murder, November 22, Oswald returned to his room immediately after firing on President John F. Kennedy from the sixth floor window of the Texas School Book Depository. According to housekeeper Earlene Roberts, Oswald enters the house with a "rush", grabs a light jacket and stays home for only three to four minutes and goes on foot.
Shortly thereafter, Oswald was confronted by Dallas Police officer J.D. Tippit near junction 10 and Patton. After exchanging a few words, Oswald fatally shot Officer Tippit and then was captured moments later at the Texas Theater.
