The orbital piercing is a combination of two ear piercings connected by a single jeweler. Usually located in the ear helix region, Orbital Piercing can be carried anywhere in the body including your ears. This piercing does not have to be misconstrued as an industry, snail or double cartilage piercing.

Process

The professional piercer will have a hollow measuring needle sterilized a captive bead ring for jewelry, and a pair of pliers.

Piercer will pick up a marker and mark the placement where you want to pierce. They will then take a hollow measuring needle and put it in a marked position. With a needle still in your ear, the piercer will take a captive bead ring and tuck it in the hollow part of the needle, gently pulling the needle through the rest of your ear with the captive bead still in the needle. Once the jewelry is placed correctly in your ear, the piercer will repeat the process again, except this time they will not enter a new captive ring. Using the second hole you just created, the piercer will take the bead ring in the first hole and place it through the second hole. They then close the ring until there is very little space left for the beads to get into the ring. After the bead is placed and secured in the ring, the piercing is complete.

Aftercare

Wash your hands regularly and use cotton dipped in warm water and sea salt solution to remove the crust from the piercing and to keep it clean of any infections. You will want to repeat these steps 3-5 times a day for the next 2-3 weeks. It is better if you sleep with a pillow that has a hole, like a travel cushion, for greater comfort.

If your piercings are swollen for more than 2 weeks, begin to seep red, black or green liquid, bleed continuously, or cause problems with your hearing, it is advisable to call your piercer. In severe cases, see your doctor or go to the hospital.
