La Palma is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 15,568 at the 2010 Census, up from 15,408 at the 2000 census.
In 2013, La Palma was ranked 31st in "The best place to live" among small cities (50,000 or less) in the United States by Money CNN magazine. In 2007, it was ranked the 16th best place to live in the US. Ranking is based on small, friendly environment vibrations, high school, low crime rates and lowest police response times in Orange County.

La Palma was founded on October 26, 1955. Originally founded as Dairyland , and is one of three dairy towns in the region (the other two are Dairy Valley in Cerritos and Dairy City in Cypress) but when the dairy company moved to the east in 1965, the name of the community was changed to La Palma, after the Spanish heritage of the region and its main street, La Palma Avenue.

It borders the Cerritos to the north and west, Cypress to the south and west, and Buena Park to the east.
According to the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of ââ1.83 square miles (4.7 km 2 ). 1.8 square miles (4.7 km 2 ) of that is the ground and 0.02 square miles (0.052 km 2 ) of it (1.32%) is water. This makes it the smallest city in Orange County in terms of area.

In the 2000 census, there were 15,408 people, 4,979 households, and 4,227 families living in the city. Population density is 8.499.3 residents per square mile (3,286.8/km ò). There are 5,066 housing units with an average density of 2,794.5 per square mile (1,080.7 km/s). City racial makeup is 44.6% Asia, 36.3% White, 10.3% Hispanic, 4.5% Black,.3% Pacific Island,.2% Native Americans, 0.2% of other races, and 3.5% of two races or more.
There are 4,979 households where 37.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.5% are married couples living together, 10.8% have unmarried female households present, and 15, 1% is not family. 11.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.6% had someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 3.09 and the average family size was 3.35.
In the city, the population is spread by 23.8% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 28.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% years or more. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 women, there are 95.5 men. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 93.3 men.
The average income for households in the city is $ 68,438, and the average income for families is $ 74,524. Men have an average income of $ 50,988 versus $ 36,242 for women. The per capita income for the city is $ 26,598. Approximately 4.0% of families and 4.9% of the population are below the poverty line, including 6.0% of those under the age of 18 and 2.8% of those aged 65 and older.

The US Census 2010 reports that La Palma has a population of 15,568. Population density was 8.499.1 people per square mile (3,281.5/km ò). La Palma's racial makeup is 5,762 (37.0%) White (27.8% Non-Hispanic White), 802 (5.2%) African American, 56 (0.4%) Native American, 7,483 (48.1 %) Asia, 41 (0.3%) Pacific Islands, 760 (4.9%) of other races, and 664 (4.3%) of two or more races. Hispanic or Latino from any race is 2,487 people (16.0%).
The Census reported that 15,548 people (99.9% of the population) live in households, 14 (0.1%) live in unembienced groups, and 6 (0%) are institutionalized.
There are 5,080 households, of which 1,949 (38.4%) have children under the age of 18 living in them, 3,331 (65.6%) are married couples living together, 641 (12.6% ) has a female household without a husband now, 240 (4.7%) have male households without a wife. There were 134 (2.6%) unmarried sex partners, and 26 (0.5%) married couples or married couples. 716 households (14.1%) consisted of individuals and 389 (7.7%) had someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size is 3.06. There were 4,212 families (82.9% of all households); the average family size is 3.37.
