He represents the Senate District 27 in the Denver Metro Area, which covers sections of the Unrelated Arapahoe Area, City Centennial, and Foxfield Town. He serves in the Senate of Local Government, Business Senate, Labor & amp; Technology and Joint Technology Committee.

Tate is a Republican member of the Colorado Representative Council, representing District 37 from 2014 until his appointment to the state Senate in 2016. At Home, Tate is in charge of the Business Affairs and Labor Committee and State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.
Primary and 2014 Selection
Tate defeated fellow Republican Michael Fields in the primary election which took place on 24 June, with 65.7% of the vote.
In an election for the Colorado House of Representatives on November 4, 2014, he easily defeated Democrat Nancy Cronk with 58% of the vote to win District 37, garnering nearly 6,000 more votes than his opponent.
2015 Legislative Sessions
For the 2015 legislative session, Tate Representative is a member of the State Affairs Committee, Veterans and Military Affairs, Home Business Affairs and Labor Committee, and the Joint Technology Committee of the Combined General.
Tate is honored as Legislator of the Year 2015 by the American Council of Engineering Companies.

2015 Appointment
In October 2015, Senator David Balmer of the Colorado Senate District 27, announced plans to resign to care for sick family members, and to accept a position as political campaign director of the state for the Legislation Fund of Human Society. On Saturday, December 12, 2015, Republican leaders in District 27 voted Tate as a substitute for Balmer.
2016 Legislative Sessions
For the 2016 Legislative session, Senator Tate was appointed to Business, Labor & amp; Technology Committee, Local Government Committee, and Joint Technology Committee.
Allegations of legislative harassment
In November 2017, Tate and Republican Senator Randy Baumgardner of Hot Sulfur Springs, accused of sexually abusing women on the Capitol during the 2016 session. An 18-year-old intern accused Tate of sexually harassing her clothes, lingering with her hands on her shoulders, conducted throughout most of the 2017 legislative session and glanced at it. Baumgardner was accused of slapping the ass of the former legislative assistant on four separate occasions. Another woman alleged that she repeatedly invited her to drink with him in her office.
Grantham issued a statement when the story was published, saying, "We consider any allegations of harassment or serious offenses We ask those who feel they have been victims of harassment or improper conduct in the General Assembly to file formal complaints, in the belief that anonymity and rights they will be protected.Forward, Republican Senate leaders can not and will not respond to unlawful or anonymous allegations against members appearing in the media, whose existing grievance handling process is designed to be handled.This process exists to protect the secrecy, the right of accusers and defendants, thoroughly reviewing facts, giving fair hearing to all parties, and imposing penalties in proportion to committed violations. "
On March 29, Senate President Kevin Grantham (R) wrote in a letter to Tate that he did not believe Tate violated the sexual harassment policy and decided to close the investigation.
Biography
Tate was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended Duke University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He continued his studies at Vanderbilt University, University of Missouri, and University of Colorado, Denver, earned a Master of Science degree in Finance, and an MBA in Marketing. He has spent 25 years of technical career and business to develop, evaluate, and manage projects related to capital investment.
Tate married Dr. Kathleen Tate, a doctor and surgeon. They have three children.
