History
Established as Holland Builders, Inc., in 1963, the company expanded to include its property leasing division, Sheltair Aviation Facilities, in the 1980s to manage an expanding aviation office portfolio. The Sheltair concept comes from the concept, "shelter for planes." In 1988, the Company started its business in the General Aviation industry service sector and opened two FBOs with the construction of the Fort Lauderdale Jet Center and the Daytona Beach Jet Center that offer fuel and land services. Since the "Jet Center" became a common name for FBO throughout the US, the company saw the need to change the name of this division in the late 1990s - 2000s. The Sheltair name is brought into the business services segment because of the significant amount of brand equity in the aviation property. "Sheltair Aviation Services" is used to describe the FBO business and to describe the facilities management and rental business as "Sheltair Flight Facility." Over the next few years, the three divisions - Sheltair Aviation Services, Sheltair Aviation Facilities and Holland Builders - are in an expansion period, adding some FBO and lease locations to a total of 16 FBOs today, 18 airport properties hire hangars and total attendance room offices in 20 airport. Currently, the company still remains under the ownership of the original founder and CEO, Jerry Holland.
